Rock

Rock. For a simple word, there are a huge number of uses!  What pops into your mind when you read that word? Something like the picture one that is igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic?  Maybe you are musical, and Rock and Roll is the way to go!  Maybe you are a fan of Dwyane Johnson, or Alcatraz, or the movie based on escaping from that prison.  Ok… you get the point.

The point of our Psalm today and the point when we call God our “Rock” goes way beyond any of the stuff we just mentioned.  I am reminded of the story that Jesus told about building houses on shifting sands or on the solid rock.  Storms hit both homes, but the one built on the rock withstood it.  Now you are getting to the depths of the word rock in God’s context; solid, unshakeable, steadfast and sure,  Now that is a rock.
